Dez's Cake
My good friend, Dez hosted a bbq this past weekend and asked me to do a cake. We decided on a coconut cake with key lime frosting and chocolate cake balls. The cake balls are devil's food cake mixed with chocolate frosting then twice dipped in melted milk chocolate.
All balled up and ready to be stuck in the freezer.
Not yet melted chocolate and sprinkles
Freshly dipped and sprinkled. Delicious!
These are the cupcake liners I put the balls in for serving.
The coconut cake just waiting to be frosted.
The finished product.

Just Some Randoms
Here are some random cakes that i've made the past couple of months. The first one is a coconut cake with key lime frosting. This was the first time I tried this recipe and it was for a friend's birthday. It turned out to be much more of a process than I thought! I mix and matched the recipe with a different frosting recipe. The cake recipe said it should take 25-30 minutes to bake. An hour later and it was finally done!! The edges were burnt, but the middle was perfect! I don't know if it was the recipe, the altitude, my oven, or the pans. The frosting recipe was actually for cupcakes. In order to get enough frosting to fill the middle layer and frost the entire thing, I had to multiply the recipe by 6!! I was planning on covering the cake in fondant and decorating it really cute. But, since I was still frosting the cake at midnight, I just left it. It tasted great and was a huge hit.
This next cake I made for a girl's birthday in my office. Since I'm the new girl, I thought I could impress them all with my baking skills. It's a chocolate cake with butter cream frosting. I've been designated as the new office birthday celebration coordinator.
